This all-year hike is SO convenient to Calgary, and a great, but doable workout for most people. We did this one a short while ago, on a perfect summer day, and saw families, trail runners, seniors,… Full review by BenLar137

This is a popular hike for a reason. It is only a 45 minute drive from Calgary, can be done in under 3 hours if you're a little fit, and is easily managed by fit seniors and families with kids. The … Full review by BenLar137

Yes. The Highway does fill up, and there is more parking in the Elbow Falls parking lot, and it adds only a bit of extra distance if you're going to be summiting Prairie Mountain. There's one place on the route to the top that can be icy, so we always have strap-on ice-grips for our boots, but they useless to start, so we'd suggest packing them for wearing later. We've seen lots of people in sneakers and other terrible footgear on the trail, and it just seems to take all the fun out it if you're not prepared. Best to go as early as you can, as it is a very popular all-year route. There are some trails beyond, e.g. Powderface Creek and Prairie Creek do make a loop. But with decent weather, hard to beat Prairie Mountain for views, with relatively little effort! Happy hiking!
