Right-wing leader Geert Wilders' exit from government ended the already fragile Dutch coalition after just 11 months in power. Like other major economies in the European Union, the Netherlands has grown increasingly fragmented as parties struggle to reach consensus on sensitive topics such as immigration.

Islam, anti-immigration and anti-EU stance, has risen close to power in the Netherlands. Often called the ‘Dutch Trump’ for his striking dyed hair and fiery speeches, Wilders on Tuesday pulled his PVV party out of the ruling coalition following a disagreement over stricter migration rules.
