The uproar over Sydney Sweeney’s American Eagle ad campaign has exploded on social media but it’s a different story elsewhere, according to a new survey — with only a small sliver of Americans saying they were offended.

Some internet users have also accused AE of ripping off a 1980s Calvin Klein ad campaign starring supermodel Brooke Shields, SJ Denim reported. The ad showed a 14-year-old Shields rolling on the floor and trying to put on her jeans while discussing how “the secret of life lies behind the genetic code.”

The week spanning from August 3 to August 9 took the biggest hit, according to the report, which said foot traffic dropped 9 percent compared to a year earlier.
