Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki on the island of Flores spewed an ash tower more than 11km (6.8mi) into the sky on Tuesday, the country's volcanology agency said. There have not been any reports of casualties. Authorities have raised the highest alert level and advised residents to avoid activities within a 7km radius around the crater.

JAKARTA (Reuters) -Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in Indonesia's East Nusa Tenggara province erupted on Tuesday, spewing a towering ash cloud 11 kilometres (6.8 miles) high, the country's volcanology agency said.

Urgent evacuation alerts have been issued after a volcano spewed ash 32,000ft into the air, unleashing a 6.8 mile-high ash cloud into the sky and affecting Australian airspace
