The country music star was married to Brandon's dad for 26 years, and although they were not related by blood, she considered Brandon to be her son. Brandon died on August 7 after a battle with melanoma.

McEntire was formerly married to Blackstock's father, TV producer Narvel Blackstock, and remained close with Brandon even after the divorce.
