Sixty years after the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. led a rally protesting housing discrimination and segregated schools in Boston, hundreds of people gathered at the same site to honor and reflect on the historic event.

King's son said he never thought racism would still be around and on the rise like it is today, as rally-goers urged activism to continue.

Hundreds gathered in Boston on Saturday to honor the 60th anniversary of the historic 1965 Freedom Rally, a pivotal moment in the civil rights movement. The commemorative rally began at 10:30 a.m. in Copley Square, where attendees marched down Boylston Street to Charles Street.
