The G7 summit in Alberta, Canada will congregate for a third day today - with the notable exception of US President Donald Trump. The US president left the economic bloc's summit ahead of schedule last night, with the White House confirming he had to see to affairs at home as Israel's strikes on Iran continue.

Before leaving, President Trump joined the other leaders in issuing a statement saying Iran "can never have a nuclear weapon" and calling for a "de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East.

France will host the next G7 summit at the Alpine spa resort town of Evian-les-Bains in June 2026, French President Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday, vowing to keep unity and work closely with trusted partners to weigh more on the world.
