General Motors is adding over 132,000 heavy-duty pickups in the U.S. to a previous recall for tailgate release switches that can short circuit and open the gates while the trucks are in park.

GM has recalled about 132,037 trucks over concerns that tailgates could unlatch. The recall involves certain 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD 2500, 3500, and GMC Sierra HD 2500, 3500 vehicles equipped with power-unlatching tailgates. Dealers will replace the exterior touchpad switch assemblies for free, the NHTSA said.
