This is the first time in three weeks that the series has competed on a road course. Since Scott Dixon grabbed his first win of the season at Mid-Ohio, IndyCar had its back-to-back weekend at Iowa Speedway before racing on the streets of Toronto last Sunday.
Palou’s command of the sport is most evident in the season standings, where collecting the weekend’s maximum number of points, coupled with the fourth-place finish of Arrow McLaren’s Pato O’Ward, swelled his lead to a whopping 121 points. Only three races remain.
The 2025 IndyCar schedule includes 17 races, starting on the streets of St. Petersburg, Fla., in March, and finishing at Nashville Superspeedway on Aug. 31. Races are run on downtown streets, road courses and oval speedways.
The 28-year-old Spaniard won three of the last four IndyCar Series titles. He has taken things even further in 2025.
IndyCar's 8:30am practice session at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca was cancelled after a thick marine layer of fog blanketed the circuit.
Richmond would fill in a much-needed hole in the schedule, which currently doesn’t have a race in the mid-Atlantic or the Northeast. A return to Pocono, where INDYCAR has seen its share of injuries and loss, is unlikely. Watkins Glen (another NASCAR-owned track) doesn’t seem to be in the conversation.
The IndyCar Series is racing at WeatherTech at Raceway Laguna Seca. Here is the qualifying lineup, starting grid, start time, TV, streaming.
