A Russian drone struck a multi-storey apartment building late on Sunday in Ukraine's second largest city, Kharkiv, triggering a fire and injuring eight people, the city's mayor said. Kharkiv resisted capture in the early days of Russia's February 2022 invasion of Ukraine and has since been a frequent target of air attacks.

At 12:12 a.m., the Kharkiv Oblast Prosecutor’s Office published photos showing the aftermath of the drone strike on a five-story residential building in the city’s Kyivskyi district. Law enforcement officials said the drone hit an apartment on the top floor.

Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov said that all the strikes targeted central districts of the city, with emergency crews responding at multiple locations.
