The Braves’ outfield depth took a hit on Thursday when Lane Thomas strained his left intercostal while taking batting practice. Thomas was scratched from the lineup approximately 20 minutes before the start of Thursday afternoon’s win over the Rays.
Veteran outfielder Lane Thomas, who grew up in Tennessee as a Chipper Jones fan, was traded to the Braves on Saturday.
Braves manager Walt Weiss said Lane Thomas (intercostal strain) will be placed on the injured list. He could miss the remainder of the season. The Braves will turn to Brewer Hicklen as their lead fourth outfielder for the time being.
