Met Eireann has said conditions will be "extremely cold with widespread severe frost, ice and lying snow". The 13 counties with status orange warnings to date are Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow, Cavan, Monaghan as well as Munster and Connacht.
