DETROIT - One of the biggest winter storms in years is hitting a huge swath of the United States this weekend, stretching from the Rockies east to Boston and New York, and reaching south as far as the Carolinas and Tennessee.
Peak snowfall will be Sunday afternoon toward dinnertime, particularly from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. The main snow will then start to move out with lake effect snow showers lingering near the Lake Huron shoreline. The intensity of lake effect snow will be lessened thanks to the amount of ice currently on the Great Lakes.
