Paramount Global and CBS are seeking dismissal of Donald Trump's ‘60 Minutes’ lawsuit, calling it, "An affront to the First Amendment"

CBS News and its parent company Paramount Global filed a motion to dismiss President Trump's lawsuit, hoping to end his high-stakes legal battle that could cost the company big money.

Paramount on Thursday asked a federal judge in Texas to dismiss the $20-billion lawsuit. The media company separately has agreed to have a mediator look at the case.

CBS News' parent company, Paramount Global, has filed a pair of motions seeking to dismiss President Donald Trump's $20 billion lawsuit against the news organization. The president filed the lawsuit in October 2024 accusing CBS News of aligning itself with "partisan and unlawful acts of election and voter interference.

The move is another indicator that the two sides are exploring ways to resolve the case, over the editing of a “60 Minutes” interview, out of court.
