Miami International Airport is under a ground stop on Sunday afternoon after officials said a cargo plane overran the runway and hit multiple vehicles, impacting several patients.
Mario Lamar Sr., 80, was an experienced pilot who had flown for 40 years, according to a family statement released Tuesday. Also aboard were his wife, Lili Lamar, 79, and grandchildren Sofi Sosa, 28, and Christian Sosa, 22.
Family members say the PA-34 Piper five-seater aircraft was carrying grandparents, their grandson and granddaughter. It went missing Sept. 7.
