The SEC claims it has the authority to expel LSU from the conference in an amended complaint on Sept. 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, USA TODAY reported. There will also be a meeting Sept. 10 to vote on the future of LSU's membership in the league, according to the brief.
The conference filed its suit ahead of Week 1 as LSU flirted with the idea of signing two players who were on NFL training camp rosters.
SEC leadership will meet Thursday, and some reports suggest that league officials could vote to suspend LSU Head Coach Lane Kiffin.
USA TODAY reported that in an amended complaint on Sept. 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, the SEC claims it can expel LSU from the conference. There will be a vote among SEC presidents on Sept. 10 to expel LSU, according to the brief. It comes after the SEC sued LSU and Kiffin on Sept. 3.
East Baton Rouge Parish Judge William Jorden issued his ruling the night before LSU was due to submit its 105-man roster to the Southeastern Conference. They declined to name former New Orleans Saints defensive lineman Zxavian Harris and former Cleveland Browns tight end Dae´Quan Wright on the initial roster.
