In the 87th Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2025, R Praggnanandhaa won his sixth game, Arjun Erigaisi secured his first victory, and Gukesh settled for a draw. Highlights included Praggnanandhaa's win over Alexey Sarana and Abdusattorov's defeat by Erigaisi.

Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa beat Alexey Sarana of Serbia to register his third straight victory and take his tally to a commendable 8.5 points. He now shares the top spot with compatriot D Gukesh in the end of the 12th and penultimate round of Tata Steel Masters in Netherlands on Saturday.

The tournament now hinges on the last round. Arjun Erigaisi, having mustered some confidence from today’s win, will take on Gukesh while Pragg meets Gukesh’s world championship second, Vincent Keymer.

Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa beat Alexey Sarana of Serbia to register his third straight victory and take his tally to a commendable 8.5 points after the end of the 12th and penultimate round of Tata Steel Masters here on Saturday.

World champion D Gukesh climbed to world no. 3 in the live rankings, and has a 0.5 lead with two rounds to go.

Over the course of 11 games in the Tata Steel chess tournament, world champion Gukesh's rating has gone up by 16 points. He is currently rated at 2793, just one point off his career best rating of 2794.
