Novak Djokovic created history and broke multiple world records after a five-set thriller against Jannik Sinner to reach the final of the 2026 Australian Open. The 24-time Grand Slam champion will play in his first Major summit clash since the 2023 US Open.

Djokovic roared back from one set down and a two sets to one deficit to beat the 24-year-old world No.2, who was bidding for a third straight Australian Open title in a 3-6 6-3 4-6 6-4 6-4 epic, that was hailed one of the greatest matches ever at Melbourne Park.

After ending his remarkable streak of six consecutive Wimbledon finals, Djokovic stated his intentions: “ I would be sad if this were my last match on Centre Court, but I don’t plan it that way. I hope to be back next year ,” said the Serb during a press conference following his loss to Sinner, who beat him convincingly in straight sets.

Standing in his way is world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, setting up a blockbuster rematch of the 2024 Wimbledon final and the Paris Olympics gold-medal match. Alcaraz advanced earlier in the day after a marathon battle with No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev, outlasting him 6-4, 7-6 (5), 6-7 (3), 6-7 (4), 7-5 in nearly five and a half hours.
