Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said Friday that efforts to crack down on Mexican cartels and slow migration north were showing “compelling results" in an effort to head off intervention talk by the Trump administration.

She further appeared to issue a statement toward Trump, warning against intervening in Mexico, where drug cartels hold considerable sway over the government.

President Trump said the US will begin targeting drug cartels with military strikes, and suggested the operations could take place in Mexico.
