Tributes have been pouring in for Democratic Rep. Sylvester Turner of Texas since he died after attending President Donald Trump’s joint address to Congress.

The late Texas Congressman and former Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner will lie in state at the Texas Capitol next week to commemorate his lifelong commitment to public service. Texas House members unanimously passed a resolution on Thursday morning to allow Turner to lie in the Hall of the House of Representatives from Thursday,

The flags of Texas and the U.S. are flying at half staff on Thursday and Friday to honor U.S. Rep. Sylvester Turner of Houston, who started his first term in Congress in January. The Democrat was formerly the mayor of Houston from 2016-2024.
