A winter storm is in the forecast for portions of Alabama this weekend, and winter storm watches have been issued for the northern part of the state.

The National Weather Service in Nashville has upgraded the winter storm watch to a warning.

Drivers are urged to stay at home as roads, especially bridges and overpasses will be hazardous and overall travel conditions could become treacherous.
