When the news landed on Tuesday that the Cowboys have created $20 million in cap space by restructuring the contract of receiver CeeDee Lamb, some applauded Lamb for his selflessness.

Lamb signed a four-year, $136 million contract extension with the Cowboys last offseason, checking in $1 million per year behind Justin Jefferson at the top of the wide receiver market. The Cowboys kept his cap number artificially low in Year 1 of the deal and built in future restructures with larger base salaries in 2025, 2026 and 2027.

The Dallas Cowboys offense in 2024 was in far too many cases pretty much "CeeDee Lamb or bust.'' And once the All-Pro eventually succumbed to his shoulder injury, it was up to the lesser-knowns to step up.
