US President-Elect Donald Trump has publicly celebrated the resignation of the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Christopher Wray. In a statement, Trump termed Wray’s resignation a victory for justice and the end of what he termed the “weaponization” of the US Department of Justice.

The resignation by Wray would clear the way for Kash Patel's ascension, assuming he is confirmed by the Senate.
