Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow recently sat down for a lenghty podcast that included his remarks about the team’s cap situation and how his contract can be changed to help the team afford other expensive extensions. Some, though, aren’t buying that the Bengals will actually follow Burrow’s advice on these cap matters.

Carson Palmer demanded a trade in 2010 following his eighth season with the Bengals. He was the No. 1 overall pick in 2003 and won the Hesiman Trophy at USC. The situations would be eerily similar if Burrow had to go down that road.

The underlying thing here? Burrow’s priority is chasing championships. As long as the Bengals show they’ll provide the resources to put him in that position consistently, everything will be fine. So they should do that, rather than find out what happens if they don’t.
