The Texas Tech Red Raiders have a star on their hands with JT Toppin leading the way to a Sweet 16 berth this season after joining from the New Mexico Lobos last year. However, Texas Tech isn't the only party benefitting from Toppin's brilliance on the court.

Texas Tech is one of the under-the-radar teams entering the NCAA tournament, as the Red Raiders are a No. 3 seed coming off a 25-8 regular season. A big reason for Texas Tech's success is JT Toppin, as the forward is the team-leader in several categories.

Texas Tech beat UNC Wilmington in the first round with a 3-point barrage, setting a tournament record with 46 attempts. But with the Bulldogs blanketing the Red Raiders' guards, coach Grant McCasland chose to funnel the ball inside to Toppin, a second-team All-American, and Williams, who has been dealing with a right leg injury.
