The Trump administration has sought to deport Columbia University graduate Mahmoud Khalil for leading the pro-Palestinian protests and sit-ins at the Ivy League institution.
New York Judge Jesse Furman had transferred the case to New Jersey, but a fight has ensued over which court has jurisdiction. Khalil, currently held in Louisiana, was snatched by ICE agents on March 8 and initially held in New Jersey.
