The Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves are still battling for the top spot in the National League East.

According to the MLB.com transaction log, Eric Haase has signed a minor league deal with the Braves. Haase was assigned to Atlanta's Florida Complex. Evidently, he signed the contract before the September 1 cutoff date, an indication that he will be eligible for the postseason.

The Tampa Bay Rays’ confidence is soaring after two convincing wins at the Atlanta Braves in a matchup of first-place teams.

“Kim signed his one-year, $20 million deal this winter and then tore a ligament in his right middle finger when he slipped on ice in South Korea a couple of weeks later,” Mark Bowman recalled for MLB.com. “He missed the first six weeks of the season, struggled mightily for two months, then spent July trying to find his swing at the Triple-A level.”

While all six division races are more or less settled, there's a handful of teams with just a couple of games for the third wild card spots, with the Cleveland Guardians, Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers fighting in the AL and Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres in the NL.

Victor Mesa Jr. had two hits, including a home run, Griffin Jax gave up only two hits and one run in five innings and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Atlanta Braves 7-2 to clinch the series win in the matchup of division leaders.

The Milwaukee Brewers, Los Angeles Dodgers and the Atlanta Braves have a big few weeks ahead.
