Florida Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad will have a phone hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety following his hit to the head of Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brandon Hagel, the league announced Tuesday.

Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes has a chance to become a repeat Norris Trophy recipient. On Tuesday, the NHL named Hughes, Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche and Zach Werenski of the Columbus Blue Jackets as finalists for the award.

The NHL is announcing three finalists for its major awards. Quinn Hughes and Cale Makar are up for another Norris Trophy.
