Tesla has expanded the operational geofence for its driverless Robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, marking the first such increase in some time. The updated Service Area for Robotaxi in Austin now spans about 288 square miles and is roughly 9 percent larger than the previous boundary.

The South Austin project would add charging equipment, a car wash and other infrastructure to support Tesla's plans to grow its fleet.

Tesla has launched its steering wheel-less Cybercab in Austin. The US traffic authority NHTSA has immediately initiated an audit of around 1000 vehicles.

Reggie Overton documented his experience on X. He said he requested a Tesla robotaxi and was quoted a 66-minute ride for 2.3 miles. Certain it was a bug, he called Tesla support. After some back-and-forth, Overton was told the ride could not be rerouted. He ultimately had to change his destination to get out of the robotaxi and call an Uber.
