The budget airline Ryanair has only just revealed an exact date for the implementation of its paperless boarding pass policy, despite first announcing the policy last October

Ryanair's plans to scrap physical boarding passes and go completely paperless have been delayed by six months.

Ryanair CMO, Dara Brady, said: “This move to 100% paperless boarding passes from November 2025 will allow us to deliver an enhanced travel experience for customers, streamlined through the myRyanair app during our less busy Winter schedule.

Ryanair, Europe's biggest airline, said passengers will only be able to use digital boarding passes from November.

From November 2025, passengers travelling with the Irish airline Ryanair will no longer be able to obtain and print traditional paper boarding passes. Instead, the carrier announced on Wednesday that they will need to use digital boarding passes generated in the "myRyanair" app.

Low-cost airline Ryanair is delaying its move to paperless boarding passes until early November, the company said in a statement on Wednesday. Ryanair boss, Michael O'Leary, initially said that the switch to 100% electronic solutions would be fully implemented by May.

It's a major update for summer holidaymakers as Ryanair has decided to postpone the launch of its digital-only boarding pass system. The Budget Airline had previously planned to eliminate paper boarding passes by May of this year as part of a wider move to do away with check-in desks at airports.
