Dallas weather: Winter storm watch issued, mix of snow and ice expected to hit North Texas
From rain to ice, North Texans should prepare for a freezing weekend as snow and sleet take aim at the Metroplex.
Subfreezing temperatures are expected by Friday as arctic air moves into Texas, with some areas possibly staying below freezing through Monday before warming into the lower 40s on Tuesday.

Precipitation chances are still low, with a 5% hourly chance between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. at DFW International Airport. The chance of sprinkles and flurries extends down into the northern portion of Dallas and Tarrant counties, but possibilities appear higher for counties farther north, including those along the Red River border with Oklahoma.
Chances are increasing that a winter storm will bring snow, ice, and plunging temperatures to millions across Texas this week.
Here's the general thinking as of Tuesday morning. Our northern and northwestern counties should see a faster changeover from freezing rain to mostly sleet and snow, whereas the I20 corridor will see more freezing rain and sleeting before a changeover. Our southern counties are at the greatest risk of seeing ice accumulations.
