The New York Yankees are reportedly making a trade to for an All-Star third baseman who will fill their greatest position of need for the stretch run.

The Yankees didn't get their reported top target at third base, but made a deal for a different former All-Star on Friday.

Pirates outfielder Oneil Cruz is among those that the Yankees have checked in on, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post. Heyman reports that the Yankees have talked to the Pirates about the slugger, but the price is said to be “steep.”
