TSA urges travelers to secure guns properly when flying as Atlanta is still number one in the nation for firearms
More than 6,600 firearms were intercepted at airport security checkpoints in the year and nearly all of them were loaded, the Transportation Safety Administration said.

In July of 2024, officials said there were 222 firearms confiscated from carry-on bags in 2024, compared to 214 at the same time in 2023.
The TSA detected an average of more than 18 firearms a day at airport security checkpoints. Incidents have more than doubled since 2015.
The bizarre sighting landed the New Jersey airport in the No. 8 slot on the agency’s Top 10 list of most unusual finds at checkpoints last year.
