A fan has spotted what appears to be a deep-cut reference to a Daredevil comic book in the Daredevil: Born Again premiere, and it may reveal what really happened to Foggy Nelson. Spoilers obviously follow.

The first episode of Daredevil: Born Again opens to a celebratory setting with Matt, Karen and Foggy at Josie’s bar. But that does not last long as Benjamin ‘Dex’ Poindexter also known as Bullseye is looking to seek revenge. Foggy gets a call from a client apologizing for giving information on him to Bullseye.
The official trailer for "Daredevil: Born Again," released in January, centers around a tense conversation between Cox's Murdock and D'Onofrio's Fisk in a New York City diner -- intercut with bloody, bone-breaking action, of course.
As stated earlier, the first episode of Daredevil: Born Again features an awesome and brutal fight scene between Bullseye and Daredevil. However, as they fight, we also hear Foggy Nelson's heart slowly fade. This leads to the first shocking scene of the series as Foggy Nelson dies:
Still, Marvel remains afraid to completely embrace the grittiness of Netflix's Daredevil, making Born Again feel MCU-ified (not just because of its bright color palette). It still gives fans a glimmer of hope for the future of the MCU's street-level heroes.
