The Avalanche have acquired Brock Nelson of the Islanders, the most coveted center available ahead of Friday's NHL trade deadline.

The Colorado Avalanche landed forward Brock Nelson through a trade with the New York Islanders, the teams announced.

With trade speculation swirling, Brock Nelson remained focused on the ice, helping the New York Islanders secure a 3-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday. After the game, Nelson gave a very candid and emotional interview on what it means to play for the Islanders as rumors about his future continue to grow.
