The State Department’s procurement forecast removed the mention of Elon Musk’s Tesla Inc. in relation to a planned $400 million armored EV purchase after reports emerged about it on Wednesday.

The department plans to buy armored Tesla vehicles. Elon Musk, who is leading efforts to cut government spending, has won more than $13 billion in government contracts in the past five years.

The State Department said it was planning to buy $400 million worth of armored Teslas this year. It now says it will be buying "Armored Electric Vehicles" instead of specifically Teslas.

The five-year contract, which did not specify the Tesla model to be “armored,” was listed in the government’s procurement forecast for 2025 and was first reported by Drop Site News.
