The New York Mets have reached an agreement with free-agent lefty reliever A.J. Minter, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post. Minter is slated to make $22 million over a two-year term. He will have the ability to opt out and return to the free-agent market after the first season if he so desires.

NEW YORK (AP) — Turning their attention to the bullpen, the New York Mets have agreed with free agent left-hander A.J. Minter on a two-year contract, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press on Friday. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the agreement was subject to a successful physical.

Minter is the second addition for the Mets this week, with the club bringing back DH/OF Jesse Winker on a one-year deal Thursday.

The addition occurred a day after the Mets, moving forward with their offseason plan with the belief Pete Alonso will sign elsewhere, reunited with Jesse Winker on a one-year contract worth $7.5 million. Tanner Scott, who is regarded as the top reliever on the free-agent market, met with club officials earlier this month.

The Mets made it clear they wanted to improve their bullpen, and did so by snagging a key left-handed ex-Braves reliever.
