Some calm is returning to Wall Street. U.S. stocks are rising in early trading Monday, while oil prices are giving back some of their initial spurts following Israel’s attack on Iranian nuclear and military targets at the end of last week.

That sent the yield on the 10-year Treasury up to 4.43% from 4.36% late Thursday. Higher yields can tug down on prices for stocks and other investments, while making it more expensive for U.S. companies and households to borrow money.

The last few years have been rough for the oil and gas sector. Mounting environmental pressure and imbalances in the rates of supply and demand have pushed Brent crude oil to fall to less than $65 per barrel throughout 2025 so far,
