Ex-Ireland captain Johnny Sexton will join Andy Farrell's staff as an assistant coach for this year's British & Irish Lions tour of Australia, the team said on Thursday, before taking up a full-time coaching position with the Irish Rugby Football Union.

Former Ireland fly-half Johnny Sexton joins Andy Farrell's British and Irish Lions coaching team for this summer's tour of Australia.

The IRFU has also confirmed that Sexton will move into a full-time coaching role with the union next season, working with “various men’s and women’s national age grade sides
