A 42-year-old Detroit man has been charged for allegedly shooting a good Samaritan with a flare gun after the victim tried to stop the man from harassing an elderly woman.

DETROIT – A 30-year-old man is facing the possibility of spending his life behind bars after a shooting that killed two people on Detroit’s west side. The shooting happened just after midnight on Feb. 14, near the intersection of Fenkell Avenue and Coyle Street.

A Detroit man accused in a fatal double shooting last week on the city's west side has been charged, officials announced Friday.

Keith Alan Arrington Jr., 30, of Detroit, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of felon in possession of a firearm, and three counts of felony firearm, Prosecutor Kym Worthy said in her press release.

Investigators say it is alleged that an argument between escalated, leading to the suspect shooting both victims with a shotgun.

The criminal complaint said James Mann dropped his cellphone on a porch after the shooting.

A 25-year-old man was killed and a 23-year-old pregnant woman was taken to a local hospital after a shooting at a Southside hotel Feb. 14, JSO said.
