Happy Gilmore has seen a surge in popularity on Netflix in the week ending July 21 as fans prepare for the release of the sequel, which arrives on July 25.
On February 16, 1996, Universal Pictures introduced Happy Gilmore to audiences. The Adam Sandler starrer went on to gross $41 million and became a cable TV perennial enroute to its belated Netflix sequel in 2025. The Hollywood Reporter’s original review is below:

We will soon see Adam Sandler picking up that golf stick in Happy Gilmore 2, which is releasing on July 25, 2025 and will be available on the streaming platform Netflix.
