Braves promote outfielder after losing Lane Thomas to IL
Atlanta Braves outfielder Lane Thomas was scratched from the team’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday due to left side tightness. Braves manager Walt Weiss said after the game that Thomas would be placed on the injured list .
The Braves’ outfield depth took a hit on Thursday when Lane Thomas strained his left intercostal while taking batting practice. Thomas was scratched from the lineup approximately 20 minutes before the start of Thursday afternoon’s win over the Rays.
Braves placed LF Lane Thomas on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to September 8, with a strained left intercostal muscle.
Veteran outfielder Lane Thomas, who grew up in Tennessee as a Chipper Jones fan, was traded to the Braves on Saturday.
The Braves announced that outfielder Lane Thomas is headed to the IL with an intercostal strain. Thomas was injured while taking batting practice ahead of Thursday’s matchup against the Rays. He was scratched from the lineup and replaced by Brewer Hicklen in left field.
