It was earlier this year that California Gov. Gavin Newsom was making nice with President Donald Trump as he sought help for his wildfire-battered state and moderating his approach ahead of a potential bid for the White House.

The new line of attack from Newsom, who is widely considered a top contender for president in 2028, comes after he told Fox LA earlier this week that Trump “is not the same person that I dealt with just four years ago, and he’s incapable now of even a train of thought. He’s making things up.”

Enten found that Newsom is leading the race to become the next Democratic nominee, standing at 12% odds, according to online prediction market Kalshi. He is followed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) at 10%, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg at 10%, and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro at 6%.
