The Powerball jackpot ballooned to an eye-watering $681 million ahead of Wednesday night’s anticipated drawing as contestants are hoping they have a lot more to be grateful for this Thanksgiving.
The next Powerball drawing will happen Wednesday, with the jackpot set at an estimated $681 million, according to the official Powerball website. Winning numbers will be drawn at 9:59 p.m. CST. Monday’s drawing had no Jackpot winners, though one person in Illinois won $1 million, according to the website.
A Meriden woman won $500,000 while playing the lottery for the first time, and became the first Connecticut resident to secure a major prize in a new Powerball game.
The Powerball jackpot for tonight's drawing (Monday, Nov. 24) is an estimated $654 million, with a cash option being an estimated $303.2 million. Tonight's Powerball drawing will be the 34th since the jackpot last hit Sept. 6, when tickets sold in Missouri and Texas split a $1.787 billion jackpot.
The next drawing is on Saturday, Nov. 22. The estimated jackpot for this drawing has grown to $629 million with a cash value of $294.5 million. Powerball drawings take place three times a week, every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET.
A Powerball ticket worth $1 million was bought at a 7-Eleven in Union County for Wednesday’s lottery drawing. The lucky ticket was sold at the convenience store on Mountain Avenue in Mountainside, lottery officials said. It matched five numbers but not the Powerball and was the only second-prize ticket sold in the country for Wednesday’s drawing.
