A slow-moving, active storm system has brought heavy rain, large hail and tornadoes to parts of Texas and Oklahoma and left three people dead

Oklahoma flooding has killed a woman and a child, police say, as the region has been hit by severe storms this weekend.

On April 19, forecasters said severe thunderstorms were a threat to parts of the middle and lower Mississippi Valley and the Southern Plains, and the risk could grow into Easter Sunday on April 20. The thunderstorms there could produce severe wind, hail and a few tornadoes, the weather service said.

Make sure you’re staying weather aware through the evening, especially in areas on the North Shore and River Parishes. Storms will be possible Tuesday afternoon as well. Heavy rain could lead to street flooding, with rain totals over 3 inches possible where storms pop up. Coverage will be around 40 percent.

Scattered showers and storms are possible in several waves today as a cold front slowly sags across the Ohio Valley. Not a complete washout as there will be dry hours as well. Gusty winds may produce some minor tree damage or a few power outages.
