Matthew Stafford and the Rams look to pull off an upset against the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC divisional playoffs Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.
Philly benefitted from a fortunate turnover early in the fourth quarter when star defensive tackle Jalen Carter delivered a perfect punch to knock the ball out of Rams running back Kyren Williams's arms. Eagles corner Isaiah Rodgers then scooped up the fumble and ran it for 40 yards into Rams' territory before getting tackled.
The snow pelted all over Lincoln Financial Field in the second half, a time when the Philadelphia Eagles defense rose to the occasion. Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith forced two fumbles in the snow that led to two fourth-quarter field goals as the Eagles outlasted the Los Angeles Rams 28-22 in the snow to advance to the NFC Championship game.
Across South Philadelphia, Eagles fans spent Sunday afternoon alternating between we-got-this braggadocio and nail-biting tension. And finally there was a celebratory snow angel.
Barkley's two touchdowns and 205 rushing yards put the Eagles in the NFC Championship Game for the second time in the last three seasons.
Speaking of Hurts, this was “Bad Jalen” (passing-wise) as opposed to the “Good Jalen” the Eagles saw against the Pittsburgh Steelers last month, when he threw for 290 yards among seven receivers. Sunday was the Jalen that holds the ball too long.
The underdog Rams couldn't come back to beat the Eagles in Philadelphia on Sunday, losing in heartbreaking fashion, 28-22. They nearly overcame a 13-point deficit late in the fourth quarter, coming up just short in the divisional round of the playoffs.
