Winter weather is making its presence known across the U.S. as millions of people deal with the onslaught of a long-duration, lake-effect snowstorm that has paralyzed communities.

Days of deadly lake-effect snow and wintry conditions brought impassable travel conditions and resulted in the deaths of several people

The highest snow accumulations are expected east of Lake Ontario, where some isolated areas could get up to 60 inches of lake effect snow early in the week.
