US President-Elect Donald Trump has publicly celebrated the resignation of the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Christopher Wray. In a statement, Trump termed Wray’s resignation a victory for justice and the end of what he termed the “weaponization” of the US Department of Justice.

WASHINGTON (AP) — FBI Director Christopher Wray told bureau workers Wednesday that he plans to resign at the end of President Joe Biden’s term in January, an announcement that came a week and a half after President-elect Donald Trump said he would nominate loyalist Kash Patel for the job.

The intended resignation at the end of Biden’s term was not unexpected considering President-elect Trump had repeatedly aired his ire at Wray and said he’d nominate Kash Patel to lead the bureau.
