Liverpool are closing in on a deal to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen but they have had mixed success with their imports from Germany.

A potential deal for Wirtz will smash Liverpool's current transfer record which is set at the £72m [$98m] they paid Benfica for Darwin Nunez in 2022. Liverpool are also ready to offer Wirtz a 'long-term' deal which is rumoured to be for at least five years until 2030 but the final fee is the issue.
