Dashcam footage shows a transformer burst and utility lines on the other side of the road blowing up after a lightning strike on Aug. 11.

A massive lightning strike in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, was caught on camera Monday. The lightning struck a utility pole along Highway 17 near Shelmore Boulevard and caused an explosion that knocked out power for the entire area. The lightning strike was captured on a police officer's dashcam, showing the explosion climbing high into the air.
